Adam Kinzinger announces endorsement in New Hampshire's 1st Congressional District race
MANCHESTER, N.H. —
A former Republican congressman is making an endorsement in the Democratic primary for New Hampshire’s 1st Congressional District, WMUR Political Director Adam Sexton was first to report on Tuesday.
Adam Kinzinger, who represented a rural Illinois district as a Republican from 2011 to 2023, is backing Sarah Chadzynski in the NH-01 primary.
“Over the last few years, I've watched Sarah defend truth, democracy, and decency abroad - she has now turned her focus and energy to defending those principles at home,” Kinzinger said. “Sarah is not afraid to put herself on the line or be a target – and I know she is not afraid to do the same in Congress because she has stood up to Putin’s brutal invasion of Ukraine.”
Kinzinger gained national prominence as an increasingly vocal opponent of President Donald Trump following efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. He was one of 10 Republicans who voted to impeach Trump over the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.
"I am truly honored to have Mr. Kinzinger’s endorsement in this race and to stand arm-in-arm with him in this fight,” Chadzynski said. “We don’t have to agree on everything, but we do have to agree to the rules of the road. We aren’t going back to an old way of doing business, we are forging a path ahead that is based on the ground rules of our Constitution and the freedoms we hold so dear."
