Bill Gates Set to Testify Before Congress on Jeffrey Epstein Ties
Microsoft founder Bill Gates will sit for a transcribed interview with the House Oversight Committee on June 10 to answer questions about his relationship with convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. Gates' name appears repeatedly in recently released Epstein files, which include allegations he concealed a sexually transmitted infection from his ex-wife Melinda after an affair.
Bill Gates will testify before the House Oversight Committee next month about his connections to Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced financier who died in federal custody while facing sex trafficking charges.
According to Politico, Gates has agreed to participate in a transcribed interview on June 10. A spokesperson for the billionaire Microsoft founder confirmed he is prepared to appear before the committee.
The hearing comes as the Trump administration has overseen the release of thousands of pages of Epstein-related documents. Gates' name surfaces repeatedly throughout these files, raising questions about the nature and extent of his relationship with Epstein.
Some of the released documents contain allegations that Gates engaged in extramarital affairs and transmitted a sexually transmitted disease to his then-wife Melinda Gates without her knowledge. The couple divorced in 2021 after 27 years of marriage, with Melinda Gates later stating that her ex-husband's relationship with Epstein was one factor in their split.
Gates has publicly denied visiting Epstein's private island in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where prosecutors alleged much of Epstein's sex trafficking operation took place. However, he has acknowledged meeting with Epstein multiple times, initially characterizing those meetings as focused on philanthropy before later expressing regret.
"I made a mistake in judgment in thinking that those discussions would lead to something positive," Gates told CNN in 2021.
Epstein died by apparent suicide in a Manhattan jail cell in August 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. His death sparked widespread skepticism and conspiracy theories, given his connections to powerful figures in business, politics, and entertainment.
The House Oversight Committee has not disclosed the full scope of questions Gates will face, but the hearing represents a rare instance of congressional scrutiny into the networks that enabled Epstein's crimes for decades.
For survivors and advocates demanding accountability, the testimony offers a potential window into how wealthy and influential figures maintained relationships with Epstein despite mounting evidence of his predatory behavior. Whether Gates can provide meaningful answers about what he knew and when he knew it remains to be seen.
The June 10 interview will be transcribed but it is unclear whether it will be made public or what enforcement mechanisms exist if Gates declines to answer specific questions.
