Congressman Raul Ruiz Calls Out Trump’s Corruption, Pushes Bill to Block Profiting from Pardons
Congressman Raul Ruiz brands the Trump administration as the most corrupt in U.S. history, accusing it of selling pardons to corporate backers tied to Trump’s shady crypto venture. He’s introducing the “No Profits for Pardons Act” to stop presidents and their families from cashing in on pardons and to claw back illicit gains.
Congressman Raul Ruiz didn’t hold back in his recent condemnation of the Trump administration, labeling it “the most corrupt administration in the history of the United States.” His sharp rebuke centers on allegations that the Trump family’s crypto business, World Liberty Financial, has become a conduit for pay-to-play schemes involving presidential pardons.
Ruiz alleges that corporate executives who financially supported World Liberty Financial are receiving special favors from the Trump White House — including pardons that let them sidestep justice. According to the congressman, some individuals convicted of serious crimes, including sex offenses, are effectively “paying their way out” by funneling money into businesses linked to the Trump family.
To combat this blatant abuse of power, Ruiz is drafting the “No Profits for Pardons Act.” This legislation aims to make it illegal for a president, their family members, or affiliated businesses to profit from presidential pardons. Under the bill, anyone pardoned who is tied to these financial arrangements would be forced to finish their sentences if wrongdoing is proven in court.
Moreover, the proposed law would require anyone who financially benefited from such pardons to repay those profits to the U.S. Treasury — a direct attempt to claw back ill-gotten gains.
Ruiz also expressed confidence that if Democrats regain control of the House, investigations into these corrupt pardon deals will follow. This move shines a light on yet another layer of the Trump administration’s authoritarian overreach and self-enrichment schemes.
The “No Profits for Pardons Act” is a necessary step to uphold the rule of law and prevent future administrations from weaponizing pardons for personal financial gain. As long as the Trump family continues to exploit the presidency for profit, accountability efforts like Ruiz’s are critical to preserving democratic integrity.
