Could China Get Pulled Into Trump’s Manufactured Iran War?

The Trump administration’s manufactured conflict with Iran has already destabilized the Middle East through aggressive military posturing, crippling sanctions, and diplomatic sabotage. Now experts are raising alarms about the risk of China, a crucial ally of Tehran, being drawn into the escalating confrontation.

Andrea Ghiselli, an international politics lecturer at the University of Exeter who spent nearly a decade working in China, told DW.com that Beijing’s close ties with Iran complicate the conflict. “China has significant economic and strategic interests in Iran, including energy investments and regional influence,” Ghiselli explained. This means any US military escalation risks forcing China to respond — potentially turning a regional conflict into a wider war.

The Trump administration has repeatedly used foreign conflicts as distractions from mounting domestic scandals and to consolidate authoritarian power. But the consequences of this reckless brinkmanship could be catastrophic. Pulling China into a confrontation over Iran would risk a global military crisis with no clear exit.

This isn’t just abstract geopolitics. The Trump administration’s Iran policy is a clear example of how authoritarian overreach and corruption can dangerously destabilize the world. As the conflict intensifies, the stakes are higher than ever — and the American public deserves transparency and accountability, not more manufactured wars.
