The pair maintained frequent contact between themselves and their respective employees between 2016 and 2019, the year Epstein was arrested on sex trafficking and abuse charges and later died in jail, according to CNN and Fast Company. At one point, the wellness guru reportedly expressed to Epstein, “I’m deeply grateful for our friendship.” Chopra, 79, first built a national appearance thanks in part to appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show in the 1990s, decades after he emigrated to the U.S. from India to practice medicine, CNN noted. He describes himself on his website as a “Consciousness Explorer and a world-renowned pioneer in integrative medicine" and has written over 95 books, including several New York Times bestsellers. In a Feb. 4 statement shared on social media, Chopra insisted he “was never involved in, nor did I participate in, any criminal or exploitative conduct” in connection with Epstein, adding that any contact he had “was limited and unrelated to abusive activity.” “I am deeply saddened by the suffering of the victims in this case, and I unequivocally condemn abuse and exploitation in all forms,” Chopra began. He later acknowledged that “some past email exchanges” with Epstein “have surfaced that reflect poor judgment in tone.” “I regret that and understand how they read today, given what was publicly known at the time,” Chopra continued. “My focus remains on supporting accountability, prevention, and efforts that protect and support survivors.” Among the emails are at least two instances in 2017 in which Chopra requested Epstein bring his “girls” on various trips, according to Fast Company and USA Today. In one alleged conversation from February 2017, Chopra invited Epstein to Israel and said, “If you want use a fake name. Eight months later in November, Chopra allegedly invited Epstein via email to join him in Switzerland “with your girls.” It is unclear how old the girls in question were during both exchanges. Made me smile.” Chopra later replied, “I not a predator Just a lover.” Three years later, in February 2019, Chopra told Epstein via text message that he was “sending love” to him from India. Epstein later responded, “Can you send it in female form.” Millions of documents have been released by the Justice Department after President Donald Trump signed the Epstein Files Transparency Act into law on Nov. 19.
