Democrats Slam Trump DOJ for Blocking Pam Bondi Deposition on Epstein Probe: 'Total B.S.'

The Trump Justice Department is stonewalling Congress by refusing to enforce a subpoena for former Florida AG Pam Bondi’s deposition on the Jeffrey Epstein investigation. House Oversight Democrats vow to hold Bondi in contempt and use all available tools to force her to testify, exposing the administration’s ongoing cover-up tactics.

The Trump administration’s Justice Department is once again shielding key figures from accountability in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. In a recent letter to House Oversight Committee Chair Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), Assistant Attorney General Patrick D. Davis declared that former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi was no longer required to comply with a subpoena to testify about her role in the Epstein investigation. Davis argued that because Bondi has been removed from office, she “no longer can testify in her official capacity” and therefore does not have to appear for a deposition scheduled for April 14.

But Democrats on the committee are having none of it. Rep. James Walkinshaw (D-Va.) called out the Justice Department’s position as “total B.S.” on Wednesday’s episode of “The Weeknight.” Walkinshaw pointedly noted that Todd Blanche, the acting Attorney General who issued the statement, was Donald Trump’s personal lawyer and well aware that firing Bondi does not absolve her legal responsibilities.

“The fact that she was fired doesn’t absolve her of the legal responsibility to comply with the subpoena,” Walkinshaw said. He emphasized that Bondi remains legally obligated to testify about the department’s handling of Epstein’s case and vowed that Democrats will hold both Bondi and Chairman Comer accountable to ensure her appearance.

The stakes are high. Bondi’s refusal to testify raises serious questions about what she might be hiding. Democrats are prepared to use all congressional tools at their disposal — including contempt proceedings — to compel her testimony. Walkinshaw referenced how Republicans previously pursued similar tactics against figures connected to the Clintons, signaling that Democrats will not shy away from aggressive oversight.

This latest DOJ maneuver fits a broader pattern of obstruction and cover-up by the Trump administration when it comes to Epstein and his powerful enablers. By blocking Bondi’s deposition, the administration is protecting insiders instead of pursuing transparency and justice for Epstein’s victims.

For the American people, the question is clear: why is the Trump DOJ so desperate to keep Pam Bondi silent? The answer may lie in what the former Florida AG knows about the Epstein investigation — and what she might have helped bury. Democrats are now drawing a line in the sand, insisting that no one, not even Trump’s allies, are above the law.
