FBI Director Kash Patel Spotlight on Four Noncitizens Charged with Illegal Voting in Multiple Federal Elections

FBI Director Kash Patel has publicly revealed that four noncitizens face charges for illegally voting in multiple federal elections, including the 2020 and 2024 presidential races and the 2022 midterms. According to Patel’s announcement on X and a U.S. Attorney’s Office press release from New Jersey, these individuals—David Neewilly, Jacenth Beadle Exum, Idan Choresh, and Abhinandan Vig—were not U.S. citizens when they registered to vote.

Each defendant allegedly signed voter registration forms falsely certifying their citizenship status. After casting ballots in at least one federal election, all four submitted naturalization applications (N-400 forms) falsely stating they had never registered or voted in any federal elections. This is a direct violation of federal law and an abuse of the citizenship process.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche emphasized the administration’s zero-tolerance stance on noncitizens attempting to vote, condemning the defendants for lying both to election officials and immigration authorities. ICE Director Todd Lyons echoed this, underscoring ongoing efforts to investigate and root out election fraud.

While the scale of this case is small—four individuals—it feeds into the broader narrative pushed by Patel and others about widespread voter fraud. However, it is crucial to note that these incidents remain isolated and do not support claims of systemic election rigging. Instead, they reflect the administration’s continued use of law enforcement agencies to spotlight rare cases that fit a political agenda focused on voter suppression and election distrust.

This case also fits into a pattern under Patel’s leadership of weaponizing the FBI and related agencies to pursue politically charged investigations. The focus on noncitizen voting aligns with efforts to portray elections as vulnerable to fraud, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

At Only Clowns Are Orange, we track these developments to expose how federal law enforcement is being politicized to target marginalized communities and to push a narrative that undermines democratic participation. This latest announcement is another example of the administration’s authoritarian tactics disguised as election integrity enforcement.
