Former Vikings Captain Jack Brewer Applauds FBI Raids on Alleged Somali Fraud Ring in Minnesota

Federal authorities executed 22 search warrants across Minneapolis on Tuesday, targeting a sprawling fraud investigation centered on Somali-owned businesses, including childcare facilities accused of billing for services never rendered. This crackdown follows a viral exposé by YouTuber Nick Shirley that brought renewed attention to alleged childcare funding fraud in the state.

Jack Brewer, former Minnesota Vikings captain and University of Minnesota football standout, welcomed the raids as a long-overdue intervention. Speaking to Fox News Digital, Brewer described the fraud as a "robbing of the orphan, the widow, and those in poverty," praising the federal government’s role in stepping up where local authorities have failed.

"Finally, we have an FBI that is actually sticking up for the poor in this country and stopping this corruption that’s happening in Minneapolis and the surrounding areas," Brewer said. He credited Kash Patel and the federal government for being the only entities willing to police what he called a "lawless" environment in Minnesota.

The raids are part of an ongoing federal probe into welfare fraud schemes that have cost taxpayers millions. Minnesota has been a focal point for Medicaid fraud investigations, including a $300 million pandemic-related case involving the nonprofit Feeding Our Future. Since 2022, dozens of individuals—most of Somali descent—have faced charges or convictions related to these schemes.

Brewer, who has previously called out the misuse of government programs by fraud networks, emphasized the vulnerability of Minnesota’s communities. "Minnesota is one of the most fatherless places in America," he noted, highlighting that 28% of households are single-parent, mostly led by single mothers. "These folks have figured out how to manipulate the system and created industries of corruption."

He condemned the local political leadership, accusing Minneapolis and other liberal cities of tolerating rampant crime without adequate enforcement. "What can you do to actually go to jail in Minnesota? They have some of the shortest prison sentences and a revolving door for criminals," Brewer said.

The investigation is not related to immigration enforcement but focuses squarely on financial fraud and abuse of public assistance programs. The Trump administration previously froze childcare funding and demanded audits of suspect daycare centers, intensifying scrutiny on these operations.

As the federal probe continues, Brewer’s remarks underscore a broader frustration with local governance failures and the impact of systemic fraud on vulnerable populations. The raids mark a significant step in the Trump-era crackdown on welfare fraud, aiming to restore integrity to programs designed to help those in need.
