Four noncitizens from New Jersey stand accused of illegally casting ballots in multiple federal elections, including the 2020 and 2024 presidential races, federal prosecutors announced Friday. The defendants also allegedly made false statements while applying for U.S. citizenship, attempting to conceal their illegal voting.

FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed the charges on X, emphasizing that the individuals, all noncitizens, voted in elections spanning three cycles — the 2020 presidential election, the 2022 midterms, and the 2024 presidential election. The accused are David Neewilly, 73, of Atlantic County; Jacenth Beadle Exum, 70, of Bergen County; Idan Choresh, 43, of Monmouth County; and Abhinandan Vig, 33, also of Monmouth County.

Prosecutors say these individuals registered to vote in New Jersey despite not being U.S. citizens and falsely certified their citizenship status on voter registration forms. Later, when applying for naturalization, they reportedly lied under oath by denying they had ever registered or voted in federal elections.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche issued a stern warning: "This administration will not tolerate aliens who attempt to vote in our elections when they know they are not eligible." He added that the Justice Department will "use every authority to protect the integrity of U.S. elections."

U.S. Attorney Robert Frazer echoed this commitment, stating, "Today’s charges reflect this Office’s commitment to protecting the integrity of our election system, and ensuring that those who attempt to circumvent both our voting laws and our naturalization process are held accountable."

The charges include voting by an alien in a federal election, making false statements related to naturalization, and unlawful procurement of citizenship. The defendants have appeared before federal judges in Camden and Newark as their cases proceed.

This case fits into a broader pattern of the Trump administration and its allies aggressively pursuing noncitizen voting allegations, often as part of a wider campaign to justify restrictive voting laws and undermine confidence in election outcomes. While illegal voting by noncitizens is rare, these prosecutions serve as a political cudgel to stoke fears about election integrity.

At Only Clowns Are Orange, we track how these claims are weaponized to erode democratic participation and civil rights. The Justice Department’s vow to "protect election integrity" must not become a cover for voter suppression or racial profiling. Instead, accountability should focus on actual widespread fraud — which remains elusive.

For now, four individuals in New Jersey face serious federal charges for allegedly breaking voting laws and lying under oath. We will continue to monitor how these cases unfold and what they reveal about the ongoing politicization of election enforcement.
