PORTLAND (WGME) -- Maine Congresswoman Chellie Pingree was quick to react to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem's firing, saying, in part, "good riddance."

Pingree is a frequent critic of the "enhanced enforcement techniques" ICE has used in Maine and other states led by Democrats.

“I don’t know if it was the million-dollar jet she wanted or the multi-million-dollar ad campaign she spent on herself or was it really that he just came to his senses and understood the complete incompetence at running this agency. So good riddance. Glad to get her out there,” Pingree said.

Pingree says while Noem needed to go, President Donald Trump needs to fire Stephen Miller next, who she calls the real architect behind Trump's immigration policy.

Congressman Jared Golden said "firing Secretary Noem was the right decision. I hope Senator Markwayne Mullin is prepared to do a better job."
