House Committee to Hold Epstein Victim Hearings After High-Profile Depositions, Promises Rep. Comer

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee is gearing up to hold public hearings where victims of Jeffrey Epstein will share their stories, according to Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.). Comer’s announcement came shortly after first lady Melania Trump called on Congress to provide a dedicated public hearing for Epstein’s survivors.

Comer told Fox News on Friday, “I agree with the first lady and appreciate what she said. We will have hearings.” He emphasized that the hearings with victims will occur after the committee completes depositions of several high-profile individuals connected to Epstein and his notorious procurer, Ghislaine Maxwell.

The committee has lined up testimony from major figures including Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, billionaire Ted Waitt, and a federal jail guard, Tova Noel. These depositions aim to peel back the layers of protection and complicity surrounding Epstein’s trafficking network.

Notably, the committee had planned to depose former Attorney General Pam Bondi, who faced criticism for her office’s handling of Epstein’s case. That session was canceled after the Department of Justice claimed she was subpoenaed in her official capacity. Democrats on the panel have threatened contempt charges if Bondi fails to appear.

Comer acknowledged the sensitivity around victim participation, stating, “There are some victims who are willing to come in. Most victims aren’t, and I completely understand that.” Still, he reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to giving survivors a platform once the depositions conclude.

This development follows an unusual public statement by Melania Trump, who sought to distance herself from Epstein amid swirling rumors. “The lies linking me with the disgraceful Jeffrey Epstein need to end today,” she said at the White House. Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel mocked the timing of her statement, highlighting the disconnect between public perception and the administration’s messaging.

The planned hearings mark a significant step toward accountability in a case that has long been shielded by powerful elites. By centering survivor voices and scrutinizing Epstein’s enablers, the committee aims to expose the systemic failures that allowed trafficking and abuse to persist under the radar.
