Jimmy Kimmel Calls Out Trump’s Fire Threat as a Shiny Object to Hide Trump-Epstein Files
Jimmy Kimmel fired back at Trump’s public calls for ABC to fire him, calling the president’s attacks a deliberate distraction from the real scandals — namely the Trump-Epstein files that remain sealed. Kimmel’s sharp retort exposes how Trump tries to weaponize outrage to dodge accountability amid multiple ongoing crises.
Jimmy Kimmel is not backing down after Donald Trump urged ABC to fire the late-night host, calling the demand a smokescreen to divert attention from far more serious issues. On Thursday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the host confronted Trump’s public tirade head-on, exposing the president’s attempts to weaponize outrage against him as a distraction from the Trump-Epstein scandal and other pressing failures.
Trump took to Truth Social to blast Kimmel, demanding ABC fire him “soon” and labeling his show “seriously unfunny” with “the lowest ratings in history.” Kimmel fired back with biting sarcasm, saying, “If incompetently presiding over not just one of, but the lowest rating in history is the reason I should be fired, we should both be out of a job,” referencing Trump’s own plummeting approval ratings.
But Kimmel didn’t stop there. He pointed out the real reason behind Trump’s fury: a desperate attempt to distract from the Trump-Epstein files that Attorney General Merrick Garland refuses to release. “All of this is meant to distract us from the prices he didn’t lower on day one, and from the Trump-Epstein files his attorney general refuses to release, and to distract us from the illegal war he started and can’t figure out how to get out of,” Kimmel said.
The feud escalated after Kimmel’s controversial joke about Melania Trump at a faux White House Correspondents’ Dinner roast, which drew calls from both Donald and Melania Trump for his firing. Kimmel refused to apologize, framing his comment as a “light roast” and mocking the demands as absurd.
In response, the FCC launched an early review of Disney’s broadcast licenses, but Disney remains confident it will clear the scrutiny, emphasizing its commitment to viewers and legal protections under the First Amendment.
Kimmel also mocked Trump’s repeated calls to fire him, noting the president’s fixation on petty grievances despite multiple ongoing crises, including conflicts involving Iran and Ukraine. “Trump has three wars going on right now; Iranians, Ukrainians and comedians,” Kimmel quipped.
Highlighting Trump’s own past opposition to censorship during his campaign, Kimmel called the president a hypocrite for now demanding his censorship and firing. The late-night host also poked fun at Trump’s grim joke about death during a speech tied to King Charles’ state visit, underscoring the surreal nature of Trump’s public persona.
This latest clash reveals how Trump uses personal attacks and culture wars to distract from mounting legal and political troubles — especially the sealed Trump-Epstein files that could expose deeper corruption and abuses of power. Kimmel’s refusal to be silenced is a reminder that accountability won’t be dodged by bluster and distraction.
