Jimmy Kimmel Tears Into Kash Patel Over FBI Drinking Scandal and Polygraph Panic
Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel slammed FBI Director Kash Patel in a scathing monologue following reports of excessive drinking and chaotic behavior inside FBI headquarters. Patel’s attempts to silence critics with a $250 million defamation lawsuit and polygraph tests on staff only add fuel to the fire.
Jimmy Kimmel didn’t hold back when he targeted FBI Director Kash Patel during a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, mocking him as “our future former FBI director” amid swirling allegations of drinking problems and internal turmoil at the FBI.
The comedian zeroed in on a bombshell report from The Atlantic revealing Patel’s “bouts of excessive drinking,” unexplained absences, and serious concerns from government officials about his conduct. Kimmel joked about Patel’s purported struggles, including an incident where his security detail allegedly had trouble waking him and even considered using “breaching equipment” — claims Patel vehemently denies.
Patel responded to the allegations with a $250 million defamation lawsuit, calling the reporting “false, malicious and defamatory.” At a Department of Justice press conference, Patel insisted, “I’ve never been intoxicated on the job,” and accused the media of printing “falsehoods” despite being given the truth beforehand. The Atlantic, however, stands by its reporting and is prepared to defend itself in court.
Kimmel didn’t stop there. He highlighted Patel’s reported panic, noting that the FBI director allegedly ordered more than two dozen staff and security personnel to take polygraph tests to sniff out whistleblowers. “Sounds to me like somebody could use a drink,” Kimmel quipped, underscoring the irony of Patel’s situation.
The comedian also took a jab at Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who has faced similar scrutiny over his drinking, joking, “How p***** must Pete Hegseth be right now? ‘They made me give up drinking.’”
This episode is more than just late-night fodder. It exposes the ongoing culture of loyalty purges, politicization, and chaos at the top of federal law enforcement under Patel’s watch. The FBI’s zero-tolerance policy on alcohol misuse is now under intense scrutiny, not just for the alleged behavior but for the retaliatory polygraph tests aimed at silencing dissent within the agency.
Kash Patel’s grip on the FBI appears increasingly tenuous, and as Kimmel put it, the question isn’t just about his drinking but “Which do you think will last longer, Kash Patel as head of the FBI or the bananas I bought at Trader Joe’s yesterday?”
This saga underscores the broader pattern of instability and authoritarian tactics infecting federal agencies under Trump-era loyalists. We’ll be watching closely as Patel’s future at the FBI hangs in the balance.
