"I want to thank Jim Mavromatis for his 10 years of service and dedication to Steubenville,” Johnson said.
As Johnson steps into the position, he referenced the importance of improving neighborhoods. He spoke about how state of some areas could impact businesses moving the city.
"You have to concentrate on the neighborhoods,” Johnson said. “I have to make sure that neighborhoods are places that people want to live because businesses won't locate to a place where their employees don't want to or can't live."
Johnson also noted that crime rates have gone down. And while he acknowledges that changes can be made, Johnson says he's interested in learning what has and hasn't been working.
"I want to work with council and the employees to do the best we can to provide the best service for the citizens of Steubenville,” Johnson said.
