Donald Trump sparked concern as he appeared to confuse Karoline Leavitt for his former counselor Kellyanne Conway, but the white house press secretary doesn't seem to mind

Karoline Leavitt showed her support for Donald Trump on Instagram, but was quickly mocked by critics after the president seemed to forget her name.

The 28-year-old took to social media on Friday, March 13, to share two pictures of herself standing next to Trump, 79. In the snaps, the pair faced reporters as Leavitt wore a bright pink blazer and a pair of oversized black sunglasses.

Trump wore a navy blue suit, which he paired with a bright purple tie. Leavitt's followers were distracted, however, as the post came after Trump appeared to confuse her for Kellyanne Conway, who served as Senior Counselor to the President from 2017 to 2020.

The president made the awkward gaffe while speaking at the White House during an event for Women's History Month alongside his wife, Melania Trump. "And of course Kellyanne Conway, has anyone ever heard of her?" Trump asked the audience, accidentally saying Kellyanne Conway instead of Karoline Leavitt.

He continued, "She's fantastic. She's in there fighting. A friend of mine said, 'You know that Kellyanne, I admire the way she goes in there and she screams at those people' – meaning the media, because this is a man who doesn't do very well with the media, it's just one of those things. But thank you, Kellyanne."

As Leavitt shared her new post after the slip up, trolls took to the comments to call her Kellyanne. "Hey, it's Kellyanne Conway!" one person joked.

Another person echoed, "Oh look. There is KellyAnne," as a third critic added, "Great job Kelly Ann." Someone else commented, "Hey KellyAnne how’s it going."

Trump's slip up was filmed live on TV and viewers were quick to share their concern over his apparent confusion. Taking to social media, one user wrote, "He's confusing Karoline Leavitt with Kellyanne Conway? Am I hearing that correctly?"

Another person questioned, "What is he talking about? Does he mean Leavitt? Omg. He's cooked." Meanwhile, a third asked, "Why, why, why is the press not treating his obvious cognitive decline with even half the scrutiny they lavished on Biden?"

Another critic of the president simply suggested, "Trump is not well." Another Trump troll joked, "He thinks everyone works for him."

Trump's confusion came as he's been at the center of health issue rumors for weeks. Earlier this month, the president was spotted with a red rash on his neck during a Medal of Honor ceremony at the White House.

White House physician Sean Barbabella spoke out about the issue and said, "President Trump is using a very common cream on the right side of his neck, which is a preventative skin treatment, prescribed by the White House Doctor. The President is using this treatment for one week, and the redness is expected to last for a few weeks."
