Congressman Ro Khanna, a prominent figure in the fight to expose the full scope of Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes, announced on Thursday that he has secured more than $100,000 in funding for the SAFE+ Program enhancement center in Santa Clara County. This facility offers free, round-the-clock support to survivors of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and gender-based violence.

Khanna’s involvement goes beyond funding: he has been deeply engaged in efforts to release the 3 million unreleased Epstein files, which contain critical details about perpetrators and victims alike. “I’m particularly sensitive to sexual assault and rape that girls and young women go through,” Khanna said during his visit to the center. “This safe center is dealing with that on a daily basis. They have people who have faced sexual assault, domestic violence. They provide them with emotional care, health care and help them deal with law enforcement.”

The funding will help SAFE+ expand its training programs and improve recruitment and retention of staff skilled in handling sexual assault cases. Nurse manager Anna Anton highlighted the challenge: “It’s a highly specialized program that most medical practitioners aren’t trained in. This will allow us to speed up our training program and keep us up to date on current trends in evidence collection.”

Khanna also addressed recent political developments affecting the release of the Epstein files. He noted that Pam Bondi’s departure from the Trump administration complicates the effort but also draws more attention to the cause. “I do expect a fight, but we have been working on a bipartisan basis,” Khanna said, pointing out even unlikely allies like Marjorie Taylor Greene have expressed willingness to collaborate on this issue.

For Khanna, the priority remains clear: “The focus always needs to be on the victims.” The SAFE+ center and the push for transparency in the Epstein case represent crucial steps toward justice for survivors and accountability for those who enabled abuse.
