Lawmaker names three men from the Epstein files on the House floor, demands investigation
Kentucky GOP Rep. Thomas Massie called for the Department of Justice to investigate three individuals—Leon Black, Jes Staley, and Leslie Wexner—whose names appeared in Jeffrey Epstein files, although they have not been charged with any crimes. Massie highlighted concerns over redacted information and questioned the lack of arrests related to Epstein's sex trafficking case. The release of Epstein-related documents has been ongoing under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, amidst calls for further transparency and accountability.
Lawmaker names three men from the Epstein files on the House floor, demands investigation
WASHINGTON (TNND) — Kentucky GOP Rep. Thomas Massie on Tuesday named three men from the Epstein files that he said the Department of Justice should investigate.
“Congress created, funds, and oversees the Department of Justice,” he wrote in a post on X.
“But when will we see justice for Epstein survivors? Over two dozen people have resigned, but none in the US have been arrested. On the House floor, I named 3 men the DOJ needs to investigate and hold accountable.”
The names Massie read aloud were Leon Black, Jes Staley and Leslie Wexner.
“You don’t even have to read past the redactions to see that this man needs to be investigated,” Massie said on the House floor, referencing Black.
Black is a billionaire who was the former CEO of Apollo. Staley is an American banker who had a big part in J.P. Morgan’s investment bank and Wexner is the former CEO of L Brands.
“Jes Staley, accused of terrible things,” Massie said.
“It’s right there in the files. Why is he not being investigated? And Leslie Wexner, why did the FBI list him as a co-conspirator in their own documents in a child sex trafficking case and then tell him, according to him, that they had no questions for him?”
The three men listed in the files have not been convicted of anything related to Jeffrey Epstein.
Just being named in the Epstein files is not an indication of wrongdoing.
Massie has been part of a bipartisan effort along with California Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna to get the files of disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein released.
In accordance with the Epstein Files Transparency Act, the DOJ released millions of documents on Epstein and who he was associated with. However, lawmakers have objected, stating that some names are still redacted.
Epstein was convicted of sex trafficking in 2019, the same year he died in prison.
