Letter: ICE is doing an admirable job - Post and Courier

This letter is a response to a Feb. 6 letter “GOP needs to answer for ICE” by David Wilhite. As a MAGA GOP local citizen I’ll attempt an answer.

First the lede is wrong and misleading. The GOP doesn’t need to answer for anything. Presently, its leader is running the nation (and much of the Western world) with spectacular success. Democrats need to answer for getting everything wrong, making themselves look ridiculous and foisting upon us the worst president and vice president in our 250 year history

Mr. Wilhite accuses ICE agents of being masked. Not true. If facial coverings were used, it was to protect agents from angry Minneapolis protestors. They were urged on by their incompetent governor and inept Democrat mayor — each had presided over the George Floyd riots — and demonstrated violently against ICE agents. And this pathetic governor almost became our vice president.

He then discusses the two sad individuals who lost their lives. We will never know what happened with the woman who abandoned her children to fight ICE. The agent responsible for shooting her had previously been dragged by a protestor's car for miles and survived. This woman and her companion had been harassing ICE all morning with her car. She paid a fatal price.

The other deceased protestor had been screaming f-bombs at agents and damaging ICE vehicles for days with snow and ice bottles. He too, could have protested from a safe distance but ended up shot 11 times.

Mr. Wilhite comments on agents guns drawn? Usually, they stand in silence while being verbally assaulted by protestors. Their forbearance is admirable. They are forbidden to raise a hand or gun in defense from verbal assaults and hurled objects.

Then there is the cute little boy in the bunny hat. This story (depending on which media outlet you watch or read) was abandoned by his illegal dad when confronted by agents who took him in and provided him with shelter.

I guess it all depends on where you get the news. There’s Fox which gives a conservative, pro Trump picture. And there’s every one else including Morning Joe who has to take time off every time he goes nuts over Trump. On Feb. 16, Fox gives us — in addition to the constant Nancy Guthrie stories — AOC making a fool of herself (an easy accomplishment) in Munich while flubbing an answer to a straightforward question about American diplomacy. And then we see our wonderful Secretary of State Marco Rubio projecting brilliant statecraft. He and other cabinet members are brilliant compared to the Democrat incompetents of the Biden administration.

The entire Democrat leadership fails every day. And once again are threatening a shut down. No party has ever come closer to destroying America. Their whole focus has been to get Trump. Unfortunately they are killing their party. The fall of the Washington Post is a precursor.

Mr. Wilhite asks for patience for someone to answer his letter. I trust he has found his patience rewarded.
