Lutnick set to face House Oversight as Epstein files probe heats up

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick agreed to appear before the House Oversight Committee amid its investigation into the Jeffrey Epstein files after facing public pressure from both Democrat and Republican lawmakers.
House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) announced Lutnick’s cooperation on X.
"Secretary Lutnick has proactively agreed to appear voluntarily before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform," Comer wrote.
"I commend his demonstrated commitment to transparency and appreciate his willingness to engage with the Committee. I look forward to his testimony."
The announcement comes amid Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) vowing to bring a vote to subpoena Lutnick.
“Tomorrow I will move to subpoena Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick before the Oversight Committee,” Mace wrote on X. “He has questions to answer about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.”
During Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton’s depositions last week. Lawmakers asked the couple about Lutnick's ties to Epstein. The couple was subpoenaed to testify separately before the committee.
Bill told the committee that he did not recall any conversations with Lutnick centered around “Jeffrey Epstein or Ghislaine Maxwell.”
Meanwhile, a screaming match erupted between Hillary and Mace when the congresswoman asked Hillary about her relationship with Lutnick.
“I know Howard Lutnick because when I was senator on 9/11, the firm he headed, Cantor Fitzgerald, suffered the greatest loss of life," Clinton, 78, said. "As I recall, something like 650 of his employees were murdered by terrorists that day. Howard Lutnick missed being a victim because he was delayed dropping his child off to kindergarten."
Mace kept on interrupting Hillary, prompting the heated exchange.
"You asked the question, I'm going to answer your question. This was what I spent my time doing!" Hillary yelled.
"You're going to yell at me?" Mace responded. "I am a [sexual assault] survivor trying to look out for other survivors."
"And I was taking care of the people who lost 3,000 lives!" Clinton said.
Lutnick does not face any criminal charges related to his interactions with Epstein. Simply being named in the Epstein files is not an indication of wrongdoing.
