Melania Trump Denies Epstein Ties, Demands End to ‘Lies’ Amid Renewed Scrutiny
Melania Trump publicly rejects any connection to Jeffrey Epstein, insisting she was never one of his victims and calling for an end to false rumors. Her rare White House statement revives attention on Epstein’s shadow over the Trump orbit just as the administration faces pressure over slow government disclosures.
First Lady Melania Trump stepped into the spotlight Thursday to categorically deny any relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender whose case continues to haunt the Trump presidency. Speaking from the White House’s Grand Foyer, Melania declared, “The lies linking me with the disgraceful Jeffrey Epstein need to end today,” asserting she was never a victim and had no friendship with Epstein or his associate Ghislaine Maxwell.
This unusually direct address came amid swirling speculation and persistent online rumors suggesting Epstein introduced Melania to Donald Trump. She firmly rejected these claims, stating she met Trump at a New York City party in 1998—two years before she even crossed paths with Epstein at a separate event. “Donald and I were invited to the same parties as Epstein from time to time,” she said, “since overlapping in social circles is common in New York City and Palm Beach.”
Melania’s decision to speak out now, despite the Epstein story fading from headlines amid ongoing geopolitical crises, signals frustration with what her senior adviser called “enough is enough.” Her statement also called on Congress to hold public hearings for Epstein’s victims to testify under oath, a move that could further expose the tangled web of powerful figures implicated in Epstein’s sex trafficking network.
The timing is notable. The Trump administration recently fired Attorney General Pam Bondi amid criticism over the Justice Department’s slow release of millions of Epstein-related files. These documents have named numerous celebrities, politicians, and intellectuals, including Donald Trump, who has long tried to distance himself from Epstein, claiming he cut ties in the early 2000s.
Melania’s rare public intervention, delivered under the presidential seal, breaks from the usual reticence of first ladies to engage directly in controversies. Former First Lady Jill Biden’s press secretary called it “gutsy” and “intentional,” suggesting Melania aims to settle the matter once and for all.
Yet the Epstein files continue to cast a long shadow over the Trump administration’s credibility. As the president pushes to move on, Melania’s statement may instead reopen wounds and raise uncomfortable questions about the extent of elite complicity and cover-up efforts. For a scandal that has already exposed systemic failures to hold the wealthy accountable, the first lady’s words underscore how Epstein’s legacy remains a potent threat to the Trump family’s narrative of innocence.
