Melania Trump Denies Ties to Jeffrey Epstein in Rare White House Statement, Calls for Congressional Hearing
Melania Trump broke her silence with a rare White House statement denying any connection or knowledge of Jeffrey Epstein's sex crimes, labeling the accusations as baseless smears. She called on Congress to hold a public hearing for Epstein’s survivors, thrusting the Epstein scandal back into the political spotlight despite the administration’s efforts to move on.
In an unexpected move, First Lady Melania Trump delivered a forceful statement at the White House denying any ties to Jeffrey Epstein or knowledge of his criminal activities. Reading from a prepared text in the Grand Foyer, she condemned the allegations as “completely false” and branded those spreading them as engaging in “mean-spirited attempts to defame my reputation.”
Melania emphasized that she and her attorneys were actively fighting back against what she called “unfound and baseless lies” linking her to the disgraced financier, who was convicted of sex offenses and known for using his wealth and connections to exploit victims and protect his network. She insisted that the accusations were politically and financially motivated attacks by “individuals and entities looking to cause damage to my good name.”
The first lady also seized the moment to call for a congressional hearing that would allow survivors of Epstein’s crimes to testify publicly, stating, “Each and every woman should have her day to tell her story in public if she wishes. Then, and only then, we will have the truth.” This appeal for transparency and accountability was met with cautious support from Epstein survivors Maria and Annie Farmer, who stressed their demand for justice.
Melania’s statement comes after months of relative quiet on the Epstein issue within the Trump administration, which appeared eager to shift focus to other pressing matters like the Iran conflict. The timing of her remarks, however, reignited the controversy and underscored the persistent political fractures Epstein’s legacy continues to provoke.
Her comments notably included a denial that Epstein introduced her to Donald Trump, asserting instead that she met her husband at a New York party in 1998. She downplayed her brief email exchange with Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s close associate and convicted trafficker, describing it as “casual correspondence” and “trivial.”
The statement also highlighted recent retractions and apologies from individuals and organizations that had previously linked her to Epstein, including a notable apology from HarperCollins UK for a book passage suggesting Epstein’s role in her introduction to Trump.
Republican and Democratic lawmakers reacted swiftly. Rep. Robert Garcia, top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee investigating Epstein, urged the Republican chair to schedule a public hearing immediately. Meanwhile, Rep. Thomas Massie, a GOP advocate for releasing Epstein documents, called for the Justice Department to bring survivors forward and push prosecutions.
Melania Trump’s intervention underscores how the Epstein scandal remains a volatile political issue, capable of dividing Trump’s base and complicating the administration’s messaging. Despite President Trump’s dismissal of the Epstein controversy as a “Democrat hoax,” the flood of documents released under the Epstein Files Transparency Act and ongoing calls for justice ensure the story is far from over.
This rare public rebuttal from the first lady signals that the Epstein reckoning will continue to demand attention, scrutiny, and accountability from all corners of power.
