More Citizens Disagree Indonesia Joining Trump's Board of Peace - Databoks - Katadata

A survey by Media Survei Nasional (Median) found that a majority of Indonesian respondents — 50.4% — disagree with Indonesia's membership in Donald Trump's Board of Peace (BoP), compared to 34.8% who support it. Indonesia officially joined the BoP on January 22, 2026, when President Prabowo Subianto signed the organization's charter in Davos. The top reasons for opposition included concerns that the BoP serves U.S. and Israeli interests in Gaza, objections to a Rp17 trillion financial contribution, and the fact that Palestine has not yet achieved independence. The online survey was conducted February 10–14, 2026, targeting 1,200 active social media users aged 17 and older.

Not long ago, Media Survei Nasional (Median) conducted a survey on the Indonesian public's perception of the Board of Peace (BoP).

The BoP, or Peace Council, is an international organization initiated by US President Donald Trump, and is claimed to be a solution to resolve the Gaza conflict.

Indonesia officially became a member of the BoP after President Prabowo Subianto signed the Board of Peace Charter on Thursday, January 22, 2026, in Davos, Switzerland.

Despite officially joining, Median's survey shows that more people do not agree with Indonesia joining the Peace Council.

The percentage of those who disagree, when totaled, reaches 50.4%, consisting of 30.7% who disagree and 19.7% who strongly disagree.

This percentage is much higher than those who agree, which is 34.8%, with a breakdown of 20.7% who agree and 14.1% who strongly agree.

The three main reasons for not agreeing with Indonesia joining the BoP include:

  • The BoP is an attempt by the US and Israel to control Gaza: 14.6%
  • Wasting money by depositing Rp17 trillion: 9.6%
  • Palestine has not yet gained independence: 6.8%

Meanwhile, the three main reasons for agreeing with Indonesia joining the BoP are:

  • For Palestine to gain independence: 15%
  • To strengthen Indonesia's position in the international community: 10.2%
  • For world peace efforts: 9.2%

The Median survey was conducted online from February 10-14, 2026, with a target of 1,200 active social media users aged over 17 as respondents. Note that Median did not specify the actual number of respondents.
