Newly Unsealed Epstein Suicide Note Echoes His Past Messages, Raising More Questions
A suicide note allegedly penned by Jeffrey Epstein before his failed 2019 suicide attempt has been unsealed, revealing phrases he used in earlier communications. The note’s authenticity remains unconfirmed, but its resurfacing amid ongoing Epstein file controversies underscores persistent doubts about the circumstances surrounding his death and the incomplete release of related documents.
A federal judge in New York has unsealed a handwritten note purportedly written by Jeffrey Epstein in July 2019, shortly before his failed suicide attempt in federal custody. Epstein would die weeks later in the same facility, a death officially ruled a suicide but still shrouded in suspicion.
The note, which has not been authenticated, contains a phrase Epstein had used in previous emails, linking it to a 1931 Little Rascals film line. Epstein allegedly wrote, “They investigated me for month — Found nuthing!!!” followed by, “Whatcha want me to do — Burst out cryin!! No Fun - Not Worth It!!” This phrase appeared in emails to his brother and a childhood friend, echoing a line from the film “Little Daddy,” where a character says, “Well, what do you want me to do, bust out crying?”
This newly surfaced note comes from the court records of Epstein’s former cellmate, Nicholas Tartaglione, a convicted murderer serving life sentences. Notably, the note was not part of the millions of pages released by the Justice Department under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, a law intended to shed light on Epstein’s network and the failures that allowed his crimes to persist.
The partial and delayed release of Epstein-related documents has drawn sharp criticism. Journalist Katie Phang sued the acting Attorney General for failing to comply fully with the law’s requirements, highlighting ongoing struggles for transparency. The Justice Department’s inconsistent redactions—exposing victim names while shielding some associates—have deepened public mistrust.
Epstein’s death in custody and the incomplete disclosure of documents continue to fuel conspiracy theories and demands for accountability. This note, with its familiar phrasing and unclear provenance, adds another layer to the opaque story of a man whose crimes implicate powerful figures and whose death left many questions unanswered.
The resurfacing of this note reminds us that the Epstein saga is far from closed. The fight for full transparency and justice for survivors remains urgent, as does the need to hold all enablers accountable.
