Oversight committee posts full Clinton depositions on Epstein files after talks - KOMO News

The House Oversight Committee released the full depositions of former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Monday, following their separate closed-door testimonies last week regarding the committee's investigation into the Epstein files. Hillary Clinton denied ever meeting Epstein and accused the committee of using the hearings to distract from President Trump's own connections to Epstein, while Bill Clinton acknowledged a "cordial" relationship with Epstein, confirmed taking trips with him, and denied any illicit activity. Bill Clinton acknowledged that Epstein's associate Ghislaine Maxwell attended his daughter Chelsea's wedding, but said he was unaware of her criminal activities at the time. Neither Clinton has been charged with any crime related to their association with Epstein, and the committee stated it was not accusing them of wrongdoing.

Oversight committee posts full Clinton depositions on Epstein files after talks

WASHINGTON (TNND) — The House Oversight Committee released the full depositions of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton centered on the committee’s investigation into the Epstein files on Monday.

The release of their testimonies come after the pair separately testified before the committee in closed-door meetings last week. The footage shared showed that the couple faced more than four hours of questioning each.

“The American people have a lot of questions. To my knowledge, the Clintons haven't answered very many, if any, questions about their knowledge or involvement with Epstein and Maxwell,” Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer said Thursday before the deposition started.

“No one’s accusing, at this moment, the Clintons of any wrongdoing. They’re going to have due process."

Jeffrey Epstein was found guilty of sex trafficking minors in 2019 and died in prison that same year.

Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's associate, is currently serving time in prison. She was moved to a prison in Texas from Florida. Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence after being convicted on child sex trafficking charges.

FORMER SENATOR AND SECRETARY OF STATE HILLARY CLINTON'S DEPOSITION

Hillary maintained that she had never even met Epstein throughout the deposition.

In her opening statement, Hillary accused the committee of using her and her husband as a distraction from President Donald Trump, who is heavily mentioned in the government documents.

"[Y]ou have compelled me to testify, fully aware that I have no knowledge that would assist your investigation, in order to distract attention from President Trump's actions and cover them up despite legitimate calls for answers," she wrote in the statement.

"If this committee is serious about learning the truth about Epstein's trafficking crimes, it would not rely on press gaggles to get answers from our current president on his involvement; it would ask him directly under oath about the tens of thousands of times he shows up in the Epstein files," she continued.

Jeffrey Epstein donated $20,000 to Clinton's senatorial campaign, according to the deposition.

Clinton was about if she had any recollection of a donation made by Epstein to Clinton’s joint Senate Democratic campaign in 1999.

“My understanding of the rules back then is that there was no coordination between the committee and the campaign. So, no, I have no recollection,” Hillary said.

Clinton was asked about a possible suggestion to Pizzagate conspiracy in the Epstein files as well.

A committee member asked Clinton if her review of email correspondence in the Epstein files revealed to her that language used may have any ties to a conspiracy theory that a child sex trafficking ring was being operated out of a pizzeria.

“Pizzagate was totally made up,” Hillary said.

“It was an outrageous allegation that ended up hurting a number of people that caused a deranged young man to show up with his assault rifle and shoot up a local pizza shop.”

Hillary says husband flew on Epstein’s private plane on “several trips.”

A committee asked Hillary if she was aware that the secret service did not accompany her husband on several flights.

“That is not my understanding,” Clinton said.

FORMER PRESIDENT BILL CLINTON'S DEPOSITION

Meanwhile, Bill, who is mentioned in flight logs and included in photos with Epstein and on his island, maintained he never engaged in illicit activity.

The lawmakers showed Bill several photos of him with women, whose faces have been redacted. The lawmakers showed Bill a picture with him in a hot tub with a woman, and asked if he had sex with her. He denied knowing who the woman was or having sex with her.

During his deposition, former President Bill Clinton said his relationship with disgraced financier Epstein was “cordial.”

“During the time, I was cordial,” Clinton said when asked about his relationship with Epstein.

When asked if the former president considered Epstein a friend, he responded with, “We were friendly, but I didn’t know him well enough to say we were friends.”

He did say that he went to Epstein’s house at one point and he did go on trips with Epstein.

Epstein was convicted of sex trafficking of minors in 2019, the same year he died in prison.

“Did you ever have any communications with Mr. Epstein that related to young women or girls?” the person questioning Clinton asked him during the deposition.

“No,” he answered.

Clinton also said that Epstein’s associate Ghislaine Maxwell did attend his daughter Chelsea Clinton’s wedding.

Clinton said he had no idea what Maxwell was up to at the time when she did attend the wedding.

“I had no idea,” he said. “If I had known what she was doing, I would have done the right thing.”

Further into the deposition, Clinton described Epstein as a “vacuum cleaner” who wanted to know information.

Clinton was asked about the substance of his conversations with Epstein.

“Well, at first, he really seemed to be like a vacuum cleanerlike he really wanted informationthere was nothing overtly manipulative about it,” Clinton said.

He said that Epstein wanted to know his thoughts on things like the stock market and derivative trading.

Neither Bill or Hillary have been charged with any crime related to their association with Epstein. Being named in the files is not an indication of wrongdoing.
