Oversight committee subpoenas AG Pam Bondi to answer questions on Epstein files

WASHINGTON (TNND) — The House Oversight Committee voted on Wednesday to subpoena Attorney General Pam Bondi to answer questions over how the Department of Justice handled files related to Jeffrey Epstein.

Five Republicans voted with Democrats to approve the subpoena, which was proposed by Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C. Mace forced the voting during a hearing that was unrelated to Epstein.

“The American people want answers on the Epstein files, and so do we,” Mace said in a post on X.

The subpoena passed the committee with bipartisan support, 24-19.

Besides Mace, the four GOP lawmakers who approved the subpoena included:

• Rep. Lauren Boebert
• Rep. Tim Burchett
• Rep. Michael Bloud
• Rep. Scott Perry

Oversight Chairman James Comer told the committee he spoke with Bondi's chief of staff, according to CNN. Bondi offered to give members a briefing about the Epstein files, a few at a time.

Many high-profile figures have testified before the House Oversight Committee in the Epstein probe. Last week, the Clintons appeared before the committee.

The committee issued the subpoena to the Justice Department for Epstein-related documents in its investigation last August. The DOJ had no immediate comment on the subpoena.
