Palm Beach International Airport to Become Trump Airport with a Gaudy Gold Logo

Palm Beach County officials have approved renaming their airport after Donald Trump, complete with a new all-gold logo resembling the presidential seal. This flashy rebranding, pushed by the Trump Organization and signed off by Gov. Ron DeSantis, cements Trump's decades-long grip on Palm Beach County’s public spaces — turning a public asset into a monument to a corrupt former president.

Palm Beach International Airport is officially on track to become the Donald J. Trump International Airport, complete with a new logo that screams Trump’s signature gaudy gold aesthetic. The Palm Beach County commission narrowly approved the trademark deal 4-3 on March 5, following a heated debate over the controversial renaming. The move was cemented by Gov. Ron DeSantis’s March 30 signature of legislation mandating the airport’s rebranding in honor of the 45th and 47th president.

The Trump Organization recommended the new logo, which features a gold eagle clutching two olive branches, a crest shield emblazoned with three stars and vertical stripes, all rendered in a blinding gold color. This design is no accident — it mirrors the ostentatious style Trump has stamped across his properties from Manhattan’s Trump Tower to his Mar-a-Lago estate, and even the White House makeover during his presidency.

Trump’s Palm Beach County roots run deep. Since buying Mar-a-Lago in 1985, he has been a constant presence in the area, making over 60 visits during his time in office. His influence has already reshaped local landmarks, such as the renaming of a stretch of Southern Boulevard to President Donald J. Trump Boulevard earlier this year.

During a recent visit on May 1-2, Trump boasted about future plans to expand and enhance the airport, which he has frequently used via private jet and Air Force One. “We have a lot of things in store. A lot of tremendous elements are going to be added to the airport, making it bigger and better,” Trump said. “I don’t think there’ll be anything as good as your airport will be anywhere in the country.”

This airport renaming and branding is more than just a vanity project. It exemplifies the ongoing entanglement of public resources with Trump’s personal brand and political ambitions. While taxpayers foot the bill, Palm Beach County becomes yet another stage for Trump’s self-promotion and legacy-building — a stark reminder of how entrenched corruption and cronyism have become under his influence.

We will keep tracking how this blatant pay-to-play style rebranding unfolds and what it means for democratic accountability in Palm Beach County and beyond.
