Pam Bondi Forced to Testify on Epstein Files Amid Contempt Charges from Democrats
Former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi can’t dodge the Epstein scandal by quitting her job. After skipping a scheduled deposition, Democrats on the House Oversight Committee have filed contempt of Congress charges, demanding her testimony on the Trump administration’s mishandling of Epstein files. This showdown exposes serious DOJ cover-up questions that demand answers now.
Pam Bondi’s attempt to sidestep accountability by stepping down as Florida’s Attorney General won’t save her from congressional scrutiny. The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform announced that Bondi must testify on May 29 about her personal knowledge of how the Trump administration handled the Jeffrey Epstein files. This comes after she missed a scheduled deposition on April 14.
Democrats on the committee didn’t mince words, filing contempt of Congress charges against Bondi for “illegally defying our committee, skipping her deposition, and refusing to cooperate.” Representative Robert Garcia, the committee’s ranking member, emphasized that Bondi’s testimony is “crucial” regardless of her current job title because of her direct involvement in the Epstein case.
The Republican majority on the committee dismissed the contempt charges as “theater” and “completely unnecessary,” accusing Democrats of focusing solely on Epstein instead of legislation to combat federal fraud. They also criticized Democrats for what they called a double standard, claiming Democrats gave the Clintons a “free pass” despite Bill and Hillary Clinton having already testified before the committee.
Bondi’s refusal to cooperate raises red flags given serious questions about the Department of Justice’s handling of Epstein-related files while she was in office. Both the DOJ’s Inspector General and the Government Accountability Office are investigating the department’s rollout of these files. Meanwhile, journalist Katie Phang has sued the DOJ for violating the Epstein Files Transparency Act by withholding government documents related to Epstein.
This unfolding saga highlights a disturbing pattern of obstruction and cover-up surrounding Epstein’s network and the Trump administration’s role. Bondi’s forced testimony is a critical step toward exposing the truth and holding powerful players accountable. We’ll be watching closely as this story develops.
