RFK Jr. targets Dunkin’ Donuts on ingredients, Massachusetts governor responds
WASHINGTON (TNND) — Massachusetts Democratic Gov. Maura Healy said “come and take it” in response to a report that Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. would be pulling certain ingredients from a Dunkin Donuts in the state.
“Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he may potentially pull certain ingredients from the market if they can’t be proven safe, including ingredients from a Massachusetts staple: Dunkin,’” the Boston Globe wrote on X with a link to an article.
Healy responded with a picture of a Dunkin Donuts coffee with a star above it, captioned “Come And Take It.”
During a rally in Austin, Texas last week, Kennedy said the HHS would be asking major coffee companies about their ingredients.
“We’re going to ask Dunkin’ Donuts and Starbucks, ‘Show us the safety data that show that it’s OK for a teenage girl to drink an iced coffee with 115 grams of sugar in it,’” he said, according to The Hill newspaper.
He said that he doubted either coffee company would be able to justify the 115 grams of sugar.
“The reforms aim to ensure American foods follow the highest safety and nutritional standards globally,” Kennedy’s nonprofit group MAHA Action said in a statement.
Kennedy has been very critical of toxins, artificial dyes and pesticides in American food and has been making efforts to have food companies remove them.
Target announced last month that they would only be selling cereals that don’t have synthetic colors by the end of May.
