SNL’s Weekend Update Slams Trump With a Sharp Epstein and Prince Andrew Burn

Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update host Colin Jost delivered a blistering reminder of Donald Trump’s murky connections to Jeffrey Epstein and the disgraced Prince Andrew during a recent sketch. The setup came courtesy of King Charles III, who gifted Trump a bell from the HMS Trump, a World War II British submarine, at a White House state dinner. The king joked that Trump could “just give us a ring” if he ever needed to get in touch.

Jost quickly flipped the royal quip into a stinging barb, suggesting Trump could instead call the contact saved in his phone as “Andrew (Island)” — a pointed reference to Prince Andrew, long tied to Epstein’s sex trafficking scandal. Trump has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing or direct involvement, but the sketch reminded viewers of the documented social overlap: Trump told People magazine in 2000 that Prince Andrew was “a lot of fun to be with,” contradicting his later claims of not knowing him. On February 12, 2000, Trump and Melania posed for photos with Andrew at Mar-a-Lago, the same day Epstein and his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell were also photographed there.

The segment didn’t stop there. Jost also skewered the State Department’s announcement of a special edition passport featuring Trump’s face and golden signature. “So you’ll always carry a reminder of why you fled the country,” Jost quipped, referencing Trump’s ongoing attempts to evade accountability. He added a visual joke about Trump’s passport photo seemingly burning a hole through the Declaration of Independence, underscoring the former president’s flagrant disregard for democratic norms and the rule of law.

This Weekend Update segment cuts through the haze of Trump’s denials and distractions, spotlighting the uncomfortable truths about his entanglements with Epstein’s circle and his broader pattern of corruption. By invoking the royal connection and the passport stunt, SNL underscores how Trump’s legacy is inseparable from scandal and evasion — a reality the former president would rather keep buried.
