Snooker Semi-Final Interrupted by Epstein Files Shout, Fan Ejected from Crucible

The usually quiet intensity of the World Snooker Championship semi-final at Sheffield’s Crucible was shattered when an unidentified spectator shouted "never forget the Epstein Files" during the deciding 33rd frame between Mark Allen and Wu Yize. The outburst referenced Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender whose files have exposed a web of elite corruption and abuse.

Wu was preparing to take a crucial shot when the interruption came. Referee Marcel Eckardt quickly ordered the man to be removed from the venue, responding to demands from both officials and other spectators. The fan shouted about Epstein a second time before being ejected.

Despite the unexpected distraction, Wu, a rising star from China, maintained his focus and edged out Allen 17-16. Allen, who has never reached a World Championship final, missed a routine black ball shot that would have sealed his victory. Wu will now face 2005 champion Shaun Murphy in the final.

Wu admitted to BBC Two that nerves were still getting to him but expressed relief at his win. Allen lamented his missed chances but graciously acknowledged Wu’s performance and predicted he could become a world champion.

This incident underscores how the Epstein Files continue to reverberate far beyond political and legal arenas, infiltrating even the most unexpected public spaces. The call to "never forget" serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing fight for justice and accountability against powerful figures who evade consequences.

Wu’s victory also marks a significant moment for Chinese snooker, as he aims to become only the second Chinese player to win snooker’s biggest prize after Zhao Xintong’s 2025 triumph.

The Crucible incident may have been a brief disruption, but it highlights the persistent reach of Epstein’s dark legacy and the public’s refusal to let it fade from view.
