Robert Martindale, 74, was taken into custody by Spokane police on Saturday after allegedly making multiple threatening phone calls to Mar-a-Lago and a Florida retirement community known as “The Villages.” Charged with a Class B felony for threats to bomb or injure property, Martindale’s arrest follows a joint investigation involving the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office in Florida and federal Secret Service agents.

The calls were reported to Spokane authorities around 10:40 a.m. Saturday after Florida officials traced them back to Martindale’s phone number. Police say Martindale admitted to making the calls but insisted his communications were “not a threat, but a warning.” Despite this claim, officers confirmed the phone number matched the threatening calls.

Martindale reportedly expressed anger over Trump’s recent visit to “The Villages,” a well-known retirement community that has become a hotspot for Trump-related events and political activity. The arrest underscores the heightened tensions surrounding Trump’s ongoing influence and the security concerns tied to his personal properties.

Martindale remains held in Spokane County Jail as investigations continue. This incident highlights the volatile environment around Trump’s post-presidential activities and the risks posed by politically motivated threats.
