Thomas More Society Boasts 'Victories' in 2025 Impact Report, Highlighting Trump Pardons and Culture War Wins

The Thomas More Society, a far-right legal group known for weaponizing the courts to advance anti-abortion and culture war causes, has released its 2025 Impact Report. The glossy report trumpets a series of “historic wins” that reveal the group’s ongoing role in pushing conservative legal battles under the guise of “defending truth” and “parental rights.”

Kicking off their year, the Society celebrates President Trump’s pardons of Paul Vaughn and 23 other “peaceful pro-life advocates” who were prosecuted under the FACE Act — a federal law designed to protect abortion providers from harassment and violence. The group frames these prosecutions as “unjust,” ignoring the law’s intent to keep clinics safe from intimidation.

The report also spotlights the Society’s litigation triumph in Mirabelli v. Bonta, a case that reached the Supreme Court and struck down California’s policies on secret gender transition in schools. The ruling reshaped parental rights law, a key goal for the group’s anti-transgender agenda.

Beyond these headline cases, the Thomas More Society boasts of shutting down a residential abortion provider in Illinois for permit violations, forcing Pennsylvania public schools to allow religious-school students to play sports, and defending Catholic Bishop Robert Barron against Washington State’s efforts to protect the confidentiality of confession.

The report frames these fights as courageous stands “for the truth,” but they are part of a broader pattern of using the courts to roll back reproductive rights, transgender protections, and church-state separation. The Society’s aggressive legal strategy aligns with the Trump-era playbook of weaponizing government power and the judiciary to impose a narrow ideological agenda.

As President and Chief Counsel Tom Brejcha writes, “It takes courage not only to profess the truth but to act on it.” What it really takes is relentless legal assault on civil rights under the banner of “faith” and “freedom.” The Thomas More Society’s 2025 Impact Report offers a clear window into the ongoing culture war battles shaping America’s courts and communities.
