Trump admin live updates: Mastermind of Iran plot to assassinate president is dead, Pete Hegseth says

Stay up to date with live coverage of the Trump administration and national politics Wednesday as Secretary of War Pete Hegseth gave an update on the war in Iran — dubbed Operation Epic Fury — proclaiming the US now has “complete control of Iranian skies” and that Tehran’s navy is “at the bottom of the Persian Gulf.”

Hegseth also revealed that US and Israeli forces have “hunted down and killed” the Iranian official behind a plot to assassinate Trump in the final days of the 2024 election campaign.

Also this morning, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison are getting a grilling from the House Oversight Committee about the state’s federal benefits fraud.

And Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem will testify before the House Oversight Committee a day after getting ripped — even by GOP senators — for the $220 million taxpayer-funded TV ads she stars in, during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing involving oversight of her department.

POTUS has one public event scheduled — a roundtable on electricity prices — at 3 p.m. ET. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt will hold a briefing at 1 p.m. ET.
