Trump and His Fossil Fuel Allies Are Waging a Full-Blown War on the Planet
While the world condemns Putin’s war crimes, the Trump administration’s relentless assault on the environment goes unchecked. From gutting the EPA to opening millions of acres for destructive drilling and mining, Trump and his oil-and-coal oligarchs are committing ecocide — a crime against humanity that demands global sanctions.
The ecological fallout from the US-Israel conflict with Iran is catastrophic enough, but it masks a deeper, ongoing environmental assault led by Donald Trump and his fossil fuel cronies. As Europe and the UK impose sanctions on Russian oligarchs tied to Putin’s war machine, it’s time to apply that same logic to the American oligarchs who fuel Trump’s anti-environment agenda.
These men — mainly men — are not just profiteers; they are architects of systemic destruction. Trump’s administration has opened millions of acres of critical forests and pristine Alaskan wilderness to logging and drilling, authorized seabed mining across vast underwater ecosystems despite global moratoriums, and set the stage for another Gulf of Mexico oil disaster like the Deepwater Horizon spill.
Under Trump’s watch, the EPA has been stripped of its power to regulate carbon emissions and protect endangered species. Polar bears, whales, and entire ecosystems are being sacrificed to feed the insatiable greed of oil and coal interests. In a grotesque display of ecological malice, the Pentagon has been ordered to burn more coal, abandoning clean energy projects in the process.
This is not just environmental negligence — it is ecocide, a crime against humanity as the destruction of our planet’s ecosystems threatens all life, including ours. The Trump administration’s policies undermine global efforts to combat climate change, even threatening other countries that pursue carbon reduction.
While international courts pursue war criminals like Putin and Netanyahu, the architects of America’s ecocide roam free, flaunting their wealth in luxury resorts worldwide. European leaders are beginning to call out Trump’s hostility toward the continent, but the response remains tepid.
We need urgent, bold action to hold Trump and his oil-and-coal oligarchy accountable. Their war on the environment is a war on us all — and it demands nothing less than sanctions and global condemnation. The planet cannot afford to wait.
