Trump Claims “We’ve Already Won” Against Iran as UAE Reports Missile and Drone Attacks
As the UAE intercepts Iranian missiles and drones, President Trump doubles down on his war rhetoric, claiming victory while refusing to confirm if the ceasefire is over. His boastful assertions and dismissive attitude toward the conflict’s human cost reveal a reckless approach to escalating tensions in the Middle East.
The United Arab Emirates announced it intercepted missiles and drones launched by Iran, signaling a sharp escalation in the ongoing conflict. Yet President Donald Trump, speaking on Hugh Hewitt’s radio show Monday afternoon, refused to clearly state whether the ceasefire is effectively dead. Instead, Trump offered vague assurances that the United States has “already won” the war while projecting it could drag on for another two or three weeks.
When pressed on whether Monday’s attacks marked a renewed conflict, Trump dodged the question with a boast: “One way or the other, we win.” He claimed Iran’s naval power has been decimated from 159 ships to “none” and that the U.S. military “took over” control of the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz from Iranian forces.
Trump’s narrative is detached from the grim reality on the ground. The UAE’s interception of Iranian missiles and drones underscores the volatility of the situation and the risk of further regional destabilization. Yet the president downplayed these developments, emphasizing military strength over diplomatic solutions.
He also dismissed concerns about soaring oil prices, suggesting prices could spike to $250 per barrel while calling the movement of oil tankers to the U.S. a “genius” outcome. On Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile—a key sticking point in nuclear negotiations—Trump minimized its value and touted a recent military strike, Operation Midnight Hammer, as having crippled Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
Perhaps most tellingly, Trump expressed confidence that the Iranian people would rise up against their government if armed, ignoring decades of complex political realities and the brutal repression faced by dissenters.
This latest episode highlights the Trump administration’s pattern of using foreign conflict to distract from domestic scandals and consolidate power. The president’s bluster and refusal to acknowledge the ceasefire’s fragility risk dragging the U.S. deeper into a dangerous war with no clear end.
We will keep tracking these developments and hold the administration accountable for its reckless warmongering and disregard for democratic oversight.
