Trump's AI push sparks MAGA revolt ahead of midterms - AFR
Republicans are concerned that the White House's support for artificial intelligence and big tech may provoke a backlash among voters ahead of the midterm elections. In Missouri, some residents, including Lisa Garrett, expressed opposition to the AI initiatives, indicating potential opposition to the administration's AI policies.
On a cold Tuesday evening this month, about 200 Missourians crammed into a Methodist church to share a message: the AI revolution embraced by Donald Trump’s White House did not have their unqualified support.
“I voted for this administration and didn’t really think about [AI] until it started to affect me,” said Lisa Garrett, who lives beside the site of a rapidly greenlit $US6.6 billion ($9.3 billion), 162-hectare data centre development in the satellite city of Independence, just east of Kansas City.
