Trump’s DOJ Hitman Todd Blanche Faces Legal Backlash for Weaponizing Justice

Todd Blanche, Trump’s interim DOJ chief and former personal lawyer, is digging a legal hole for himself by prosecuting Trump’s enemies on command. Former FBI and DHS officials warn Blanche’s vendetta-driven prosecutions against James Comey and others won’t be protected once Trump is out, exposing him to serious legal consequences.

Todd Blanche, the Trump-appointed acting head of the Department of Justice, is doubling down on politically motivated prosecutions targeting Trump’s critics. But former FBI and DHS officials are sounding the alarm: Blanche is playing a dangerous game that could land him in legal trouble once Trump is gone.

Michael Feinberg, ex-assistant special agent in charge at the FBI, told MSNBC’s “The Weekend” that Blanche’s pursuit of former FBI Director James Comey is not about impartial law enforcement. “This is about silencing a presidential critic,” Feinberg said bluntly. He warned Blanche to “watch your step,” pointing out that John Eastman, the mastermind behind Trump’s 2020 election coup attempt, was recently disbarred and had his appeal denied. Blanche, who once served as Trump’s personal defense attorney, should expect professional consequences even if Trump issues blanket pardons.

Miles Taylor, a former senior advisor at the Department of Homeland Security under Trump, echoed those concerns. He emphasized that if Blanche and his team engaged in criminal conduct to bring these politically charged charges, they could face prosecution after Trump leaves office. Taylor highlighted a chilling admission from Blanche that the case against Comey escalated only after Blanche returned to the DOJ, suggesting the charges were politically motivated at Trump’s behest.

Taylor also pointed to a September 20, 2023 tweet from Trump to then-Attorney General Pam Bondi demanding Comey’s prosecution as evidence of selective and vindictive prosecution. “Anyone in the chain of these decisions should be worried about a future administration charging them with violating Comey’s rights intentionally and deliberately,” Taylor warned.

This isn’t just another partisan witch hunt. It’s a brazen abuse of the DOJ’s prosecutorial power to settle political scores. And as Trump’s grip on power loosens, those like Blanche who weaponized the justice system to protect Trump and punish his enemies will face the music. The era of immunity for Trump’s loyalists is coming to an end — and Blanche is squarely in the crosshairs.
