Donald Trump is doubling down on his long-standing campaign of election lies and voter suppression with a new, ominous plan he calls the “Election Integrity Army.” In a recent post on Truth Social, Trump claimed this army will operate in “every single state” to protect what he calls the “sanctity” of legal votes — a phrase that has become code for aggressive efforts to intimidate voters and challenge ballots.

This latest move fits neatly into a disturbing pattern. Despite overwhelming evidence that voter fraud is vanishingly rare, Trump and his allies continue to push false claims that Democrats are rigging elections. Over the past several years, Republicans have passed sweeping voting restrictions, purged voter rolls, and redrawn congressional districts to cement their power — all while falsely accusing Democrats of “suppressing” GOP voters.

Trump’s announcement comes in direct response to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s new initiative to identify and counteract Republican threats to election integrity. The vague details of Trump’s “Election Integrity Army” raise serious concerns. Adding to the threat, Trump is pushing the SAVE America Act, which would impose onerous requirements on voters, such as in-person voting and proof of citizenship. This bill disproportionately burdens women and millions of Americans who lack the required documentation, and it has been stalled in the Senate amid widespread criticism.
