Trump’s Iran Ceasefire Fantasy Crumbles as Israeli Strikes Devastate Lebanon

The fragile ceasefire between the US and Iran is unraveling fast as Israel unleashes one of its deadliest airstrike campaigns on Lebanon, killing more than 200 people and wounding over a thousand. Despite Iran and Pakistan’s insistence that Lebanon is part of the ceasefire, the US and Israel claim otherwise, allowing the Israeli military to bomb densely populated civilian areas in Beirut with impunity.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called Israel’s strikes “a blatant violation” of the ceasefire agreement, warning that continued attacks would “render negotiations meaningless.” His words underscore the reality that the US-backed Israeli assault directly sabotages any hope for peace and escalates regional tensions dangerously.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump dodged accountability by dismissing the violence as a “separate skirmish” and blaming NATO allies for refusing to join a war against Iran. His vague calls for Iran to comply with a “real agreement” ring hollow when the US and its closest ally Israel actively undermine the truce on the ground.

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has formally asked Pakistan to confirm Lebanon’s inclusion in the ceasefire to prevent further Israeli attacks. Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf reinforced this position, stating Lebanon is “an inseparable part of the ceasefire” and warning of “strong responses” to violations.

Adding to the tension, Iran has limited shipping through the strategic Strait of Hormuz to 15 vessels a day under the ceasefire, a critical move given the strait’s importance for global oil supplies. Iranian nuclear chief Mohammad Eslami also dismissed US and Israeli demands to halt uranium enrichment as “wishes that will be buried,” signaling Tehran’s refusal to yield to Washington’s maximalist demands.

This unfolding crisis exposes Trump’s reckless foreign policy: a mix of military escalation, diplomatic sabotage, and economic warfare designed to distract from domestic scandals and consolidate authoritarian power. The US’s refusal to recognize Lebanon’s role in the ceasefire and its tacit approval of Israeli aggression only fuel instability and civilian suffering in the region.

The only real agreement here is that Trump’s approach is deepening the Middle East crisis, not resolving it.
