Trump’s Latest Vendetta: James Comey Indicted Over Harmless Seashell Photo

The Trump administration has launched a ludicrous indictment against former FBI Director James Comey over a benign photo of seashells, marking another desperate attempt to weaponize the justice system against political opponents. Meanwhile, Maurene Comey, James Comey’s daughter and a respected federal prosecutor, alleges she was fired in retaliation, exposing the administration’s ongoing abuse of power.

In a move that perfectly encapsulates the Trump administration’s obsession with revenge and its reckless abuse of the justice system, former FBI Director James Comey has been indicted over a simple photo of seashells arranged on a beach. According to CNN, the indictment was filed in the Eastern District of North Carolina and centers on a May social media post where Comey shared an image of shells spelling out “86 47.” The numbers, critics claim, were a veiled threat against President Donald Trump, who is the 47th president, with “86” slang for “get rid of.”

This is the administration’s second attempt to criminalize Comey, whom Trump has long targeted as a symbol of the “weaponized” justice system he claims is out to get him. The absurdity of indicting someone over a harmless beach photo is breathtaking. Even former Trump defense lawyer Todd Blanche, rumored to be angling for the attorney general job, should know better than to pursue charges based on seashells.

Back in 2023, then-Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced a Secret Service investigation into Comey’s post, alleging it was a call for assassination. Noem’s accusations were baseless and politically motivated, and she now remains out of the spotlight, unavailable for comment.

Adding to the administration’s pattern of retaliation, Maurene Comey, James Comey’s daughter and a seasoned federal prosecutor in the Southern District of New York, claims she was fired in retribution for her father’s political standing. Maurene worked on high-profile cases including those against music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, and Senator Robert Menendez. Two weeks after Combs was convicted on charges related to prostitution, Maurene received an email terminating her employment “pursuant to Article II” of the Constitution—a thinly veiled political purge.

This is not just petty political theater. It is an attack on the rule of law and a warning to anyone who dares to stand up to the Trump administration’s corruption and authoritarian impulses. We see through these antics and will continue to hold power accountable, no matter how absurd or vindictive their tactics become.
