Trump's Threat to Destroy Iran's Civilian Infrastructure Demands Immediate Removal

Donald Trump threatened to obliterate Iran's entire civilian power grid, promising "a whole civilization will die" in what amounts to a direct threat of genocide. Congress must return from vacation immediately to impeach and defund his military operations -- anything less makes them complicit in war crimes.

The Threat That Crosses Every Line

Donald Trump issued a threat this morning that should end his presidency: He promised to destroy Iran's civilian power infrastructure, declaring "a whole civilization will die." This is not hyperbole. This is not tough talk. This is a direct threat of genocide -- the deliberate destruction of civilian utilities that would plunge millions into famine and disease.

It does not matter whether Trump follows through. The threat itself is disqualifying. Past American administrations pointed to exactly this kind of bloodthirsty rhetoric as evidence that foreign dictators like Saddam Hussein were too dangerous to tolerate. Now we have a president making the same threats, and Congress is on vacation.

Trump's enablers have gone further, casting themselves as agents of divine will -- a chilling parallel to the fascist rhetoric of Nazi Germany. This is one of a hundred such parallels at this point, and the pattern is unmistakable.

The 25th Amendment Won't Save Us

Trump will not be removed via the 25th Amendment, which was designed for presidents too ill to function. His inner circle of parasites and sycophants are taking full advantage of his unfitness to pursue their own agendas of violence and corruption. They want him exactly where he is, enabling the cruelties they crave.

The remedy must come from Congress. And if Congress fails to act, they become war criminals themselves -- complicit in threatened genocide and the destruction of civilian populations for one man's ego.

Democrats Are Finally Speaking Up

Individual Democratic lawmakers are issuing more pointed statements of disgust at Trump's latest threats. The momentum is building. But statements are not enough.

Congress must cut its vacation short and return to Washington immediately. Every day of inaction is an endorsement of Trump's threatened war crimes. Impeachment proceedings must begin now -- not next week, not after more "deliberation," but now.

Put the vote to Republicans. Make them go on record either supporting or opposing genocide threats. Create a list of names -- every member who votes to keep this man in power after he threatened to murder an entire civilization. Etch those names into the Capitol walls if necessary. History will demand an accounting.

Defund the War Machine

Beyond impeachment, Congress must immediately defund Trump's military operations. Cut off the money for his "excursion" into Iran. Force military leaders to choose between following illegal orders and preserving their own freedom.

To the pilots who would be called on to destroy civilian power plants: You will be held accountable. To the generals drawing up these plans: You will be held accountable. The Nuremberg defense -- "I was just following orders" -- will not protect you.

The World Is Watching

The Supreme Court has granted presidents sweeping immunity for crimes committed in office. Trump's pardon power is so vast he could absolve every war criminal with a single signature. But the world will not tolerate a United States acting as a global saboteur.

Foreign courts will indict American war criminals if our own government will not. The United States will either become a pariah nation or it will find a way to deliver these criminals to international justice. There is no third option.

No More Excuses

There is no moral argument for inaction. There is no plausible case for keeping a self-proclaimed "destroyer of civilizations" in power. The Constitution alone cannot remedy what Trump and his enablers have done -- the system has been too thoroughly corrupted.

Congress must return to Washington and strip Trump of his powers. Impeach him. Defund his military operations. Create a record of who stood against genocide threats and who enabled them.

Anything less is complicity. The choice is binary: Remove him, or own the consequences of what he does next.
