Brian Miller has been reappointed as the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, with his tenure extended until the position is filled by the President. Miller, nominated by President Trump, was originally appointed in October 2025 and has a background as a federal prosecutor and government official, receiving numerous awards for his service. His nomination is currently pending before the U.S. Senate.

HARRISBURG, Pa. — The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced in a press release Tuesday morning that Brian Miller has been reappointed as the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Pa.

Chief District Court Judge Matthew Brann administered the oath of office to Miller yesterday in Williamsport.

Miller was originally appointed by U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi on Oct. 27, 2025, for 120 days, but this new order by the District Court Judges appoints Miller until the vacancy is filled by President Trump.

In September 2025, Trump nominated Miller to be the U.S. Attorney, and his nomination is pending before the U.S. Senate.

Previously, Miller was confirmed by the Senate to be the Special Inspector General for Pandemic Recovery on June 2, 2020.

His prior positions also included:

  • Senior associate White House Counsel
  • Inspector General of the U.S. General Services Administration
  • Senior Counsel to the Deputy Attorney General
  • Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia
  • Special Counsel on Health Care Fraud for the Deputy Attorney general
  • Counsel to the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia

He also served as Acting General Counsel of the Department of Housing and Urban Development in 2025.

Miller has received the Attorney General’s Distinguished Service Award, the EOUSA Director’s Award for Superior Performance as an AUSA and the David M. Walker Excellence in Government Performance and Accountability Award, which honors and recognizes government audit professionals whose contributions have improved government performance and improvement.

As a federal prosecutor, Miller has litigated civil and criminal cases involving terrorism, terrorist financing, drug-related conspiracies, murder and the False Claims Act. He is also known for his investigation of a GSA conference in Las Vegas as an inspector general.
