Walz again demands answers from Noem on federal immigration operations in Minnesota
Gov. Tim Walz has again sent a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem demanding answers on the surge in federal immigration enforcement and the number of children detained.
In early February, Walz sent a similar letter, demanding information on the number of children in federal custody. In a news release sent out Monday, Walz said Noem never responded to the first letter.

In the second letter, Walz accuses the Department of Homeland Security of acting “lawlessly and without transparency.” The letter also states that, despite border czar Tom Homan’s claim that there would be a drawdown of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, there are still triple the number of agents in the state as before Metro Surge.
Walz’s office said it also filed a Freedom of Information Act request to get that information, along with documents relating to Operations Metro Surge and PARRIS.
