White House spokesperson Caroline Leavitt has stated that President Donald Trump’s first option in dealing with Tehran is always diplomacy, but he is prepared to use the U.S. military’s lethal force if necessary.
Leavitt made the remarks on Tuesday evening, February 24, at the White House during a briefing with reporters.
She emphasized that Trump remains the final decision-maker on all security and military matters.
The United States has previously deployed significant naval forces near Iran’s coast to enable military action if required.
Trump has also stated that he has given Tehran approximately 10 to 15 days to reach an agreement and may raise the threat of a strike on Iran’s nuclear program in his upcoming annual State of the Union address.
