America is doing just fine, says MAGA - Spring Hope Enterprise

A guest columnist writing for the Spring Hope Enterprise disputes the MAGA characterization of America entering a "Golden Age," citing a loss of 88,000 manufacturing jobs, an estimated 75,000 deaths in Gaza according to The Lancet, and thousands of lawsuits alleging ICE rights violations, including over 4,400 court findings of illegal detention. The columnist also criticizes the Department of Justice for what he describes as politicization and contempt of Congress, and argues that recent legal interpretations granting presidential immunity represent a departure from democratic norms. The author contends that the concentration of executive power and erosion of constitutional checks are more characteristic of autocracy than democracy. The piece is written by Robert Kimball Shinkoskey, described as an author of works on democracy, religion, and the American presidency.

America is doing just fine, says MAGA - Spring Hope Enterprise

America is entering its Golden Age very rapidly, according to MAGA. For example, there has been a large amount of gilt gold installed in the Oval Office of late. On the other hand, many Americans are hurting economically.

Consider this. How “golden” is the fact the latest economic report says America has recently lost 88,000 manufacturing jobs when Trump promised an explosion of new homegrown manufacturing jobs? How delightful is it when The Lancet reports that not 49,000 Muslims have died in the American-Israeli juggernaut in Gaza but closer to 75,000, with half of them being women, seniors and children? Does that reflect well on Biden’s and Trump’s America?

How golden is what is going on the Department of Homeland Security? Tens of thousands of individuals have filed lawsuits for abuse of their rights by ICE. Some immigration lawyers have more than 1,000 current cases in their caseloads. There have been some 4,400 court findings by over 400 judges that the Trump administration has detained people illegally. Some 1,300 kids were detained by ICE in 2025 for more than 20 days. ICE has violated some 100 court orders.

The Department of Justice has also gone rogue. DOJ sent extortion letters to state governors demanding voter records in exchange for leniency in ICE activities, erected a huge banner of the president on its building proudly announcing the politicization of justice in America and has totally disrespected Congress in hearings by refusing to answer questions and slurring Democrat questioners.

Cabinet members get their nasty tongues from their boss, the wild man himself. Our president called both Republicans and Democratic appointees on the court who voted against his tariffs “very unpatriotic and disloyal to our Constitution.” He said two of the judges he appointed were “an embarrassment to their families.” He said the majority opinion group were all “a disgrace to the nation.” Just for fun, let’s remind people that for 250 years, the Constitution has been clear that Congress is exclusively in charge of tariffs, so the disrespect shown to the Constitution is entirely on the part of The Donald.

Half of Canadians to the north feel Trump’s captive U.S. government is a bigger threat to world peace than Russia. Canada is right about Trump. Russia has a madman tyrant running its government, but so do we. Our president thinks he rightfully should be not only America’s first king, totally immune from prosecution, but also the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize while initiating a vast conflict in the Middle East, America’s first tariff czar and America’s new prophet-religious leader as well, considering the fact that, like Jesus, “Trump is never, ever wrong.”

He must also be America’s Super Bowl Music Censor, Chief Border Cop, Chief Justice of the Court, Grand Wizard of America’s new masked Ku Klux Klan, chairman of the new anti-United Nations Board of Peace, usurper of every major function given to the Congress by the U.S. Constitution, Governor-in-Chief of the nation’s 50 states and usurper of their state/national guards, plus Election Denier-in-Chief. That’s a pretty big job for one person. Only a madman would think he can do it all on his own without the support of the majority of the people.

Many of America’s great and mighty constitutional scholars have caved in to the president in their legal pronouncements and have totally perverted the document they are sworn to preserve, protect and defend. They have gotten major things wrong:

• They say there is a longstanding policy that a sitting president can’t be prosecuted for crimes committed before assuming office (thus Trump’s dozens of felony charges have been dismissed).

• They say the president has immunity from criminal prosecution for crimes committed while in office.

All of this new constitutional thinking has paved the way for the extraordinarily slippery war propaganda that MAGA and the media together are cranking out to support the righteousness of the Iran War.

None of this jives with the history of the world’s great democracies, but rather only with the world’s autocratic monarchies. Which system is it that we want, people? How golden is it that today’s media are increasingly afraid to operate a free press or allow free speech for critics of the administration because the president says it is “illegal” to criticize him?

All of this is more suggestive of a new Stone Age operated under the iron fist of America’s first self-appointed despot.
