'Life after Donald Trump': Congressman says MAGA is crumbling — and America knows it
Rep. Ro Khanna stated that the era of Donald Trump is ending as more Americans, including Republicans and institutions, are beginning to stand up against him. He highlighted the courage of lawmakers like Senator Mark Kelly and others who have defended First Amendment rights and criticized Trump's influence. Khanna expressed optimism that a post-Trump America is emerging, with declining popularity for Trump and increased resistance to his actions.
Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) told MS NOW's "The Weeknight" on Monday that "life after Donald Trump" is finally in sight for America — and everyone from our institutions to the voting public to Republican lawmakers are starting to shift as a result.
Khanna, who represents Silicon Valley in Congress, has become well known as the co-author of bipartisan legislation that forced public disclosure of the Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking case files — an affair that is continuing to damage the president week after week.
"Congressman, speaking ofcreating a mess, there are anumber of your Democraticcolleagues who have beentargeted by this administration," said anchor Alicia Menendez."I'm thinking specifically ofSenator Slotkin, Kelly,Representatives Deluzio, Houlahan, Goodlander, and Crow. And tonight, the breaking newsas we came on air, it lookslike [Trump prosecutor] Jeanine Pirro is shelving that pursuit of Democrats overthe video in which they telltroops to ignore unlawfulorders."
"One, do you considerthis a win for democracy?" Menendez asked. "Andtwo, if Democrats have subpoenapower back as we head into nextyear, are you going to want tohear from Jeanine Pirro?"
"Absolutely," confirmed Khanna. "Well, one, Ithink Senator Mark Kelly andall of the six individuals haveshown great courage. They didnot cower. They stood up fortheir First Amendment rights. They said that what they weretelling the troops was what thelaw is. No one is supposed tofollow an unconstitutionalorder. We swear an oath to theConstitution."
"And what you seenow is Donald Trump crackingafter the Epstein matter, afterthe ICE abuse, you haveRepublicans willing to stand upto him," said Khanna. "You have the Supreme Court willing to stand up tohim. His numbers are under 40 percent."
The bottom line, he added, is "I think people are finallyrealizing there's going to belife after Donald Trump, andthey may want to actually standup to this president."
