‘Pambi’s’ blind ambition
Here’s one for the “Impossible to Believe” file.
In a current profile in The Atlantic, former Florida colleagues of U.S. AG Pam Bondi say that, she was “so mild, so warm, so kindhearted” that her nickname was “Pambi” - a reference to Disney’s cuddly fawn.
They marvel at her transition from a gentle soul to that prickliest of pears who, at the Senate Judiciary Committee oversight hearing, so belligerently hurled insults and refused to turn her head to acknowledge the Epstein victims in the room.
The central question explored in the profile: “What happened to Pam Bondi?”
The answer is disappointingly conventional: blind ambition. Bondi determined at some point that riding Trump’s coattails was the quickest path to power - even if that meant never saying no to the king.
