Kennedy Jr., plans to run for president again in 2028. Speaking with the New York Post in Manhattan amid his House campaign in New York's 12th Congressional District, Schlossberg, 33, said that RFK Jr. — who ran for president in 2024 — will “definitely” make another bid for the Oval Office in 2028. “He’s going to run,” Schlossberg told the Post of the 72-year-old secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). “He’s got a real following.” Referring to the Trump administration’s Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) initiative, the grandson of former President John F. Kennedy continued, “Those MAHA guys and women are cultish about him. It doesn’t make sense what he says.” “I mean, I’ll give him credit for being a brilliant mythologizer,” Schlossberg added of his cousin. “He’s good at what he’s doing.” Jack Schlossberg in New York City in January 2026. Edna Leshowitz/Getty Schlossberg also spoke with the Post about his mother Caroline Kennedy’s January 2025 letter denouncing “predator” RFK Jr., after President Donald Trump first nominated him for to be the secretary of health and human services. (At the time, Schlossberg shared a video of his mom reading her letter aloud on social media, calling her "courageous" for speaking out against her own cousin.) “My mother didn’t want to put the letter up,” Schlossberg, who Caroline, 68, shares with husband Edwin Schlossberg, told the outlet. “She wishes that it wasn’t happening but it wasn’t her choice.” Our new app is here! He continued, “We were pushed into the pool and we didn’t want anyone to be confused about what we believe and what President Kennedy’s support would be and how dangerous it was to our future.” RFK Jr. ran for president as an independent candidate in 2024. He initially campaigned for the Democratic nomination but pivoted to a third-party run partway through the election season. After Trump, 79, won the election and took office for the second time, he appointed RFK Jr. to be his secretary of health and human services, despite his controversial past statements on vaccines and autism. During a December interview with NewsNation’s Elizabeth Vargas Reports, the actress, 60, weighed in on whether she thinks her husband will use his Cabinet position to launch another shot at the White House down the line. “Oh my gosh, he's not going to run for president in 2028," said Hines. Schlossberg has long been outspoken about RFK Jr.’s behavior and politics. In October, he shared a mocked-up "MAHA Man" Spirit Halloween costume. The packing of the fake costume, which Schlossberg posted on Instagram, featured a photo of the health secretary with one of his infamous falcons. It also referenced many of the health secretary’s past scandals and points of criticism, including allegations from his children's former babysitter that he made unwanted sexual advances in 1998, and his unfounded claim that the COVID-19 vaccine may have been engineered to spare Jewish people.
