Sen. Mark Kelly's comments are ridiculous and insulting, writer says - St. Louis Call Newspapers
A letter to the editor criticizes Senator Mark Kelly for making remarks that imply military personnel cannot distinguish right from wrong, accusing him of undermining military discipline and disrespecting President Trump. The author, a former Missouri Air National Guard officer, defends the importance of obeying lawful orders and criticizes Kelly's political stance, highlighting Trump's achievements in contrast to Kelly's comments.
To the editor:
This is a response to Mark Snider’s letter on Jan. 23 titled “Writer weighs in on Mark Kelly situation.”
Snider was critical of Secretary of War Pete Hegseth for calling an investigation into Kelly’s remarks to “disobey illegal orders.” Those comments could be considered seditious or, at a minimum, insubordination.
I appreciate Kelly’s military service, but his comments are an insult to the men and women in the military, implying they cannot tell the difference between right and wrong. Kelly, a Democrat whose primary motivation was to undermine and disrespect the Commander in Chief, President Donald Trump.
Having served as an Officer in the Missouri Air National Guard, I can attest that service members take an oath at enlistment, binding them to obey the president and officers, according to the Uniform Code of Military Justice. New military members are clearly explained what lawful and unlawful orders are, and we do not need Kelly to grandstand for no reason other than purely political purposes.
While Kelly is mouthing off and accomplishing little for American citizens, President Trump secured the borders, implemented policies significantly lowering gas prices, brought us a record stock market, arrested Maduro, a narco-terrorist, and blew up Iran’s nuclear weapons program.
Mark Kelly supports a Democrat Party in favor of open borders, men in women’s sports and locker rooms and protecting illegal aliens that have committed heinous crimes. Sensible people are against those positions.
Trump is a man of action and accomplishments putting America first. Kelly is all hat and no cattle.
