Susan Collins' support of health science complex won't fool me - The Portland Press Herald
The article criticizes Senator Susan Collins for investing in a health science complex in Orono while accusing her of undermining science research funding and education through her support for policies and personnel perceived as anti-science. The author suggests that Collins's efforts to secure funding for Maine are undermined by her broader political actions, and advocates for voting her out of office.
I find it rich that Sen. Susan Collins is dumping money into bricks and mortar for a “health science complex” in Orono. Who does she think will staff this nice building now that she has helped this administration gut science research funding, defund student science education funding and help anti-science Robert F. Kennedy Jr. get appointed as the Health and Human Services secretary?
She has gotten away with her long game for way too many years. And I give her credit. She makes securing money for Maine on the one hand, while making it ineffective on the other, look almost easy. Fortunately, Mainers, who voted for Collins in the past because she’s “senior and has clout” are catching on to her game. We cannot vote her out soon enough. Collins is not good for Maine or the nation.
